Okonomiyaki workshop

Okonomiyaki is a famous Japanese street food that is slowly gaining popularity in Estonia. It is a savory pancake dish made from batter and ingredients such as cabbage, meat, and seafood. Sushimon has been offering okonomiyaki workshops for over 10 years as a special request, but now it has rightfully earned a place in our training menu.

The Okonomiyaki workshop is part of the workshops offered by Sushimon's chefs. We have been conducting Japanese food workshops since 2007, with over 400 held in total. Our goal is to make the workshops entertaining and informative, as our chefs have lived in Japan, studied culture and language at university, and are overall big fans of Japan. We also strive to be flexible to perfectly match the uniqueness of your event.

Where is the Okonomiyaki workshop held?

The 2.5-hour Okonomiyaki workshop can be organized both in Tallinn and elsewhere, in customer-selected kitchen facilities or in our space at Tartu Road 84a, Tallinn. If held in our venue, there is a room rental fee of 90 euros for 3 hours (plus VAT), and we can accommodate up to 15 people.

What are the requirements for the venue?

In an ideal space, each participant should have a small table and a seat; it’s preferable to have a stove on-site, but we can also bring a portable burner—an electrical outlet will be needed.

What does the okonomiyaki workshop include?

The okonomiyaki workshop lasts 2.5 hours, including dining, during which participants are served delicious miso soup and prepare a large portion of authentic Japanese okonomiyaki together. Alongside, there are interesting stories about Japan and the opportunity to write one’s name in Japanese.

Menu per person

Miso soup with Japanese ingredients (miso, soft tofu, shiitake mushroom, wakame seaweed)
– Okonomiyaki (in addition to cabbage, carrots, batter, seafood, and bacon, our okonomiyaki also contains exciting ingredients like nagaimo, aonori, katsuobushi, benishoga, and more. You will learn what these are during the training.)
Note: Upon prior agreement, the menu can also be adjusted for vegetarians and other dietary restrictions.

What is the price?

230€ okonomiyaki workshop base fee + 25€ per person for ingredients
Note: Prices are subject to VAT and transportation (15eur in Tallinn) or room rental fees (90eur).

What ingredients are needed?

All the necessary ingredients for the workshop are included in the price, and they are also available in approximately 99% of cases in stores across Estonia after the event. http://www.nori.ee, https://umami.ee/ and https://epromo.ee/. However, some ingredients are specially brought from Japan by the trainers and are extremely exclusive.
