Our head chef and trainer, Maria Lilje has graduated from Tallinn University with a degree in Middle Eastern and Asian Cultural History, specializing in Japan. She has also studied at the Imperial Gakushuin College in Tokyo and graduated as a chef from Tallinn Service School. Currently, she works in private training and catering, promoting Japanese culture in Estonia through various organizations. Maria also ran the Japanese restaurant "Sushimon" in Tallinn for 10 years, located at the Central Market tram stop, and now organizes sushi sales every summer on Liiva, Muhu Island. Her passion is Japanese cuisine, which has taken her back to Japan more than 25 times.
Maria has been organizing workshops for 17 years (over 400) and brings to the table a cheerful personality, a wealth of exciting facts, and captivating stories from her international life and extensive travels. A rewarding and fascinating experience is guaranteed!
Maria can conduct workshops in Estonian, English, Finnish, Russian, and Japanese.
